I purchased these shoes with the sole purpose of using them for disc golf.
They have the all-terrain 'Vibram' outer sole which is great for trekking around outside. They have a low platform, which helps with balance. And they are mid-ankle height, which gives me some stability.
Unfortunately, they are not as comfortable as they look. I own a pair of hiking boots with the 'vibram' sole, those took about 80 miles to break in. So I was expecting the same with this pair. Although, the construction and materials of the shoe lend itself to be stiff and rigid. I expect it to break in with use as well, but I was hoping for a flexible fit like a good pair of hiking boots.
The biggest annoyance with this pair are the upper lace hooks. More specifically, how they are attached. By the picture it looks like the dual set of hooks for the end of the lacing are securely attached. Unfortunately they have an 'ear flap' construction which does not pull the shoe together in the correct spot, making them fit awkwardly loose around the ankle. Although, thankfully there is a set of lace holes underneath the flaps that the hooks are attached to which do offer the right tightness. I ended up cutting the entire 'ear flaps' off the shoe and just using the holes. Kind of a bummer considering that those lace hooks were what attracted me to this pair in the first place.
Lastly, the sizing is a tad small. I normally wear a size 10, but with this pair I wish a bought a 10 1/2. Also, they are a little wider than most shows, which is good for my wide/flat feet.
- durable
- vibram outer sole
- cheap
- stiff (at first)
- awkward lacing hooks
Pros: durable, vibram outer sole
